Executive Committee

The Executive Committee serves as the coordinating and strategic leadership team of the University Faculty Senate. It works closely with the Senate President and Vice President/Secretary to guide the Senate’s activities, support committee and sector work, and uphold SUNY’s principles of shared governance.

The Committee is composed of elected sector representatives, the Convener of the Campus Governance Leaders, the chairs of standing committees, immediate past officers, and one university-wide representative appointed by the Chancellor. Together, they bring a wide range of experience and perspectives from across SUNY’s diverse campuses.

The Executive Committee helps shape the agenda for Senate plenary meetings, reviews proposed resolutions, and provides feedback to ensure they are thoughtful, well-developed, and relevant. When the full Senate is not in session, the Executive Committee is empowered to act on its behalf, helping the Senate remain responsive to emerging issues.

As a vital link between faculty governance and SUNY leadership, the Executive Committee plays a central role in advancing the mission of the University Faculty Senate—supporting academic excellence, shared decision-making, and effective communication across the SUNY system.
