Campus Governance Leaders (CGLs) are the elected chairs or presiding officers of faculty and professional governance bodies on SUNY’s state‑operated and statutory campuses. They form an important partner network within the University Faculty Senate (UFS), bringing a campus‑level perspective to university‑wide conversations.
At each Senate plenary, CGLs meet as a group to share news and challenges from their campuses, identify common issues in local shared governance, and develop questions for the SUNY Chancellor and other leaders. These meetings give CGLs a direct role in shaping discussions and highlight how campus experiences connect to system‑wide priorities.
CGLs also provide critical feedback on how UFS initiatives and resolutions are implemented on their campuses. By communicating local concerns to the Senate and bringing information back home, they strengthen the flow of ideas between individual colleges and the larger SUNY system.
Through this close relationship, CGLs help ensure that the work of the University Faculty Senate is grounded in the realities of campus life and responsive to the needs of faculty, staff, and students across SUNY.
