White papers and reports

The University Faculty Senate’s standing committees regularly produce white papers, reports, and guidance documents that address key issues facing SUNY campuses. These resources reflect the collective expertise of faculty and professional staff across the system and are intended to support campus leaders, governance bodies, and individual faculty members in their work.

A Faculty‑Driven Knowledge Base
Each UFS standing committee focuses on a specific area—such as governance, academic programs, student life, equity and inclusion, or research. Committees study emerging trends, gather input from campuses, and develop recommendations that inform decision‑making at both the campus and system level. The resulting reports provide practical insights and policy guidance grounded in the day‑to‑day experience of SUNY’s academic and professional community.

Informing Policy and Practice
White papers and reports are shared widely with SUNY System Administration, campus leaders, and local governance bodies. They often form the foundation for Senate resolutions, stimulate further discussion, or offer concrete tools that campuses can adapt to local needs. Topics range from improving shared governance practices to strengthening academic program review, enhancing student support, and more.
